NCAA Mascot Madness (Round of 32 and Sweet 16)

This is a continuation of the NCAA Mascot Madness Tournament. Check previous posts for the Round of 64. In-case you missed the first post (which includes a much longer explanation about this tournament) it’s basically the same bracket as the actual NCAA March Madness tournament, but instead of teams, it’s their mascots. Instead of a basketball game deciding the winner, this bracket will determine the winner based on which mascot would win in a 1 on 1 fight. For a much better explanation and to see round 1 results, I suggest checking out the previous post titled (NCAA Mascot Madness (Round of 64)).

Round of 32:

16.Leopard(Lafayette) vs 9.Tiger(LSU)

I did some solid research on this one and found out that both tigers and leopards have about the same maximum speed, but tigers can accelerate much faster, and are about a little over twice the size of leopards.

Winner:9.Tiger(LSU)

12.Cowboy(Wyoming) vs 4.Cardinal(Louisville)

The Cowboy will shoot this cardinal right out of the sky

Winner:12.Cowboy(Wyoming)
image

11.Flyer/Pilot(Dayton) vs 14.Great Dane(Albany)

If there was a list of dogs that you don’t want to fight, the Great Dane would be on that list due to sheer size. Winner:14.Great Dane(Albany)
image

7.Spartan(Michigan St.) vs 15.Bruin/Bear(Belmont)

The Spartan is a trained fighting machine and can take out a bear, no matter the size.

Winner:7.Spartan(Michigan St.)
image

1.Blue Devil(Duke) vs 8.Aztecs(San Diego St.)

The Blue Devil sounds pretty scary, but if it came down to hand to hand combat I’ll take an Aztec warrior over a pointy eared guy with a pitch fork

Winner:8.Aztecs(San Diego St.)
image

12.Lumber Jack(SF Austin) vs 4.Bull Dog(Georgetown)

The Lumber jack bloodies his ax again. Winner:12.Lumber Jack(SF Austin)
image

11.Bruin/Bear(UCLA) vs 14.Dragon(UAB)

Will the dragon eat his bear crispy, well done, or just straight burnt.

Winner:14.Dragon(UAB)
image

7.Hawk(Iowa) vs 15.Bison(North Dakota St.)

The Hawk has the advantage here because it can fly.

Winner:7.Hawk(Iowa)
image

16.Pirate(Hampton) vs 9.Boilermaker(Purdue)

Pirate vs Factory worker. Winner:16.Pirate(Hampton)
image

5.Mountaineer(West Virginia) vs 13.Crusader/Knight(Valparaiso)

The Mountaineer might be resourceful and move faster then the big clunky knight, but once in range the knight just needs one good swipe with his sword.

Winner:13.Crusader/Knight(Valparaiso)

11.Longhorn(Texas) vs 3.Fighting Irish/Leprechaun(Notre Dame)

I wonder if the Leprechaun will still feel lucky after it gets impaled by the longhorn…

Winner:11.Longhorn(Texas)
image

10.Hoosier/Native of Indiana(Indiana) vs 15.Aggie/Double Pistol Cowboy(New Mexico St.)

Sorry Hoosier, at least you didn’t lose to a stalk of wheat.

Winner:15.Aggie/Double Pistol Cowboy(New Mexico St.)
image

1.Badger(Wisconsin) vs 9.Cowboy(Oklahoma St.)

Badgers take what they want, but i wonder how it will take a bullet from a cowboy’s revolver.

Winner:9.Cowboy(Oklahoma St.)
image

5.Razorback(Arkansas) vs 13.Pilgrim(Harvard)

Pilgrims did not do very well in the wilderness back in the day, and razorbacks are pretty nasty things to encounter.

Winner:5.Razorback(Arkansas)
image

6.Musketeer(Xavier) vs 3.Bear(Baylor)

The Musketeer’s has the range advantage here, also if the bear gets close enough, the musketeer is a swordsman with light weight chain mail to provide quick escapes when the bear charges.

Winner:6.Musketeer(Xavier)
image

7.Ram(VCU) vs 15.Tiger(Texas Southern)

Tiger gets a few broken ribs, but just a few broken ribs. Winner:15.Tiger(Texas Southern)

Sweet 16:

9.Tiger(LSU) vs 12.Cowboy(Wyoming)

As stated in previous match-up, tigers have very quick acceleration speed, and the cowboy does have a quick draw and shot, but with lack of accuracy and lack of long range shooting, I feel like the tiger will get too close and once it closes in its over.

Winner:9.Tiger(LSU)
image

14.Great Dane(Albany) vs 7.Spartan(Michigan St.)

The Spartan moves on here, the great dane didn’t stand a chance against a trained warrior.

Winner:7.Spartan(Michigan St.)
image

8.Aztecs(San Diego St.) vs 12.Lumber Jack(SF Austin)

Last time I checked Lumber Jacks are big and burly, but that doesn’t make them warriors.

Winner:8.Aztecs(San Diego St.)
image

14.Dragon(UAB) vs 7.Hawk(Iowa)

Cooked Hawk

Winner:14.Dragon(UAB)
image

16.Pirate(Hampton) vs 13.Crusader/Knight(Valparaiso)

The Knight has better armor and better training, but the Pirate has guns and after a couple shots from a blunderbuss I don’t think the knight’s armor will be of much use any more.

Winner:16.Pirate(Hampton)
image

11.Longhorn(Texas) vs 15.Aggie/Double Pistol Cowboy(New Mexico St.)

Well, Cowboys herded cattle for a living, so ill take the cowboy and double pistols over the longhorn. Winner:15.Aggie/Double Pistol Cowboy(New Mexico St.)
image

9.Cowboy(Oklahoma St.) vs 5.Razorback(Arkansas)

Cowboy’s deal with pretty bad animals in the wild west. I think that razorbacks won’t be too much of a problem.

Winner:9.Cowboy(Oklahoma St.)
image

6.Musketeer(Xavier) vs 15.Tiger(Texas Southern)

The Musketeer just took out a bear and a tiger won’t even need as many shots, but it is much more agile and quicker. The tiger attacks and one single musket shot isn’t taking out the tiger in time.

Winner:15.Tiger(Texas Southern)
